Spiritual Health

Dear friend, I pray that you may prosper in every way and be in good health physically just as you are spiritually.  (3 John 2  HCSB)

Health, vitality, and well-being are essential for a person to have the strength necessary to accomplish any task afforded them.  God has given us the task of “feeding lambs”, those precious lives entrusted to us.  In order to complete such a daunting call, we must first be healthy spiritually.  Remember, you can never take your “lambs” further than you have gone yourself.  To lead, you must be out in front, especially when it comes to spiritual health and vitality.  Parents and church family, let’s commit ourselves to growing more healthy in 2017, especially in the realm of the spirit.

I am including some notes from Sunday evening’s message on

Spiritual Health

.  I hope the thoughts and references are beneficial.  At the bottom of this page I am including a web address for a bible reading chart I have found very helpful.  Join me in committing to a healthier 2017.
  • Spiritual Well-Being
    • Spiritual well-being is centered on the belief in a sovereign God brought about by a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ.
        • That relationship with Jesus is not stagnant but growing.
        • We maintain this vital and growing relationship through personal devotion.
          • Prayer, meditation, and Bible reading
      • To experience spiritual well-being, you must be a person of integrity.
        • Integrity is where your beliefs meet behaviors
          • A godly person is one who is:

1. a person of knowledge,
2. a person moved by faith,
3. a person like God,
4. a person careful about the worship of God,
5. a person who serves God—not man,
6. a person who prizes Christ,
7. a person who loves the Word,
8. a person who has the Spirit of God residing in him,

9. a person of humility,

10. a person of prayer,

Consistent Spiritual Growth

    • Eph. 4:14-15  “Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit. But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head — Christ.”
      • Not tossed around spiritually-
        • CONSISTENCY is vitally important for our personal spiritual growth!
        • Daily consistency in our devotional and prayer life
      • Speak and live the truth in love
      • Grow Up In Christ
  • Evaluation
  1. Do my values guide my daily life?
  2. Do I recognize that spiritual growth is a lifelong process?
  3. Do I evaluate the meaning of events in my life?
  4. Are my personal values constructive and realistic?
  5. Is my walk consistent with my talk?
  6. Do I have a usable set of morals, standards, and ethics?
